How to choose the best photo for pet engraving

Lighting, sharpness, and angle affect the result. Use these criteria before sending a reference image.

Photo engraving simplifies an image into lines and contrast. A beautiful phone photo is not automatically the best reference: the face should be sharp, evenly lit, and clearly separated from the background.

Use good light and focus

Natural light without deep shadows across the eyes and muzzle works well. The file should be large enough to show detail; compressed screenshots contain less useful information.

Angle and expression

A front or slight side portrait adapts better than a distant overhead photo or a partially hidden face. Choose an expression that genuinely represents the dog or cat.
